Second Nature Programme

So in my quest to be healthier in 2022, I joined the Second Nature progrmme. My goal is to get some much needed help/inspiration to change my lifestyle. The past 3 - 4 years I gained aroud 20 extra kilos that I need to shed. Hopefully I will be (a) thinner so I can fit my clother (b) more energetic instead of tired all of te time. I also aim to do things I used to do quite easily, like walking medium distanes without huffing and puffing every 10 minutes and carrying shopping like a regular adult.

The problems I anticipate facing:

After a quick view of the handbook, I realise I will have to give up on most of the things I love: Coffee - Chocolate - Pasta. I will have to start eating vegetables but not potatoes which I have avoided for 43 years and my beloved premade sauses which were a staple in my cooking. White rice is also out, I will need to go buy brown rice for the first time in my life. At least I get to keep cheese.

I know myself and I know I will struggle. I was never great in the kitchen. Most of the recipies are things I would never eat normally and will have to press myself to eat. Also I already have supplies in my pantry that I have not used! I cannot just throw them away. Also I will have to stop eating the free lunch/dinner at work as most of the things offered do not fit the bill!

I am highly sceptical of the whole thing but then again I knew my eating habits will need to change, what I didn't realise was that this means sacrificing my time and income as well. The healthy alternatives to pasta - chocolate - potatoes etc are much more expensive.

My mantra is 'Aim for the moon. Even if you miss you'll still land among the stars'. In my case even if I get half of it right, I will still be better of than before.

Any advise is appreciated. Wish me luck and perseverence. I will need it.
